Abstract

Golden delicious (clone of smothee) apple trees on M9 and B9 rootstocks with boric acid (1 g/l), copper sulfate (0.5 g/l) and manganese sulfate (1 g/l) separately or in combination with each other (B+Mn,B+Cu and B+Cu+Mn ). The trial was laid out in a split plot design with four replications . control trees were sprayed with water . spraying was carried ort two times in May and june. After collecting and analysis of leaf samples, B,Cu and Mn uptake was evaluated. Fruits from treated trees (a) after harvesting and (b) after 6 months of cold storage were evaluated for some quality factors such as: total soluble solids(TSS) , sugar content , titrable acidity and pH. Foliar sprays of the trees , after 24 hours, significantly increased the amount of B ,Cu and Mn in leaves, but had mi effect on fruit B ,Cu,Mn,and Ca content. The sprays had mi effect on fruit quality either. After 6 momths of storage, TSS, sugar content and rirtable acidity decreased whereas fruit juice pH increased . The effects of rootstocks on solute uptake and fruit quality were the same
