Abstract

The response of five canola varieties to three different water stress treatments was studied in an experiment cinducted in 1997.E xperimental design was a split plot design with three replication on the basis of randomized complete blocks.water stress treatments (50mm/ 80 mm and 100 mm evaporation pan) were the main plots and varieties(Ceres, shiralee, Towre, Hyola and Eureka) as subplots. Results showed that yield , number of grains per pod and oil yield was significantly affected by water stress treatments, but there was no effect of water stress on 1000 grains weight and oil percentage. Different varieties showed different responses on form of number of pod per main stem, number of grains per pod , 1000 grains weight and oil yield. Among varieties shiralee produced the highest grain yield . under more sever water stress condition(110 mm evaporation pan) . shiralee and Eureka varieties produced ligher yield than other varieties. Water stress treaments also had significant effect on growth indices decreased under more water stress treatment (110 mm evaporation from pan)
