The objective of this study was to find out the optimum date of planting and seed rates for Valfajr barley in Karaj area. The main criteria of assessment were seed yield and effect of interaction between treatments.
A strip plot design with 5 seed rates (80,100,120,140 and 160 Kg/ha) and 4 dates of seeding (starting first of Mehr i.e. 23 September, and progressively 15 days apart) was used. There were 4 replications giving a total of 80 plots. The experiment was conducted for three years in Plant and Seed Improvement Institute, at Karaj.
The results showed that the best date of seeding arid seed rate with respect to grain yield was 15 of Mehr(7 October) and 80 Kg/ha respectively. However, there was not a significant differences between dates of 15 Mehr(7 October) and first of Aban (23 October).
