Three experiments were conducted to investgate the commonly accepted idea in poultry nutrition, “the ability of chicken in regulating the level of feed intake to satisfy it’s energy requirement.” In trials 1 & 2, performed in summer and autumn respectively, Arian broiler chicks were fed diets containing five levels of metabolizable energy. In the experiment number 3, Performed in summer, Asian and Vedette broiler chicks were fed two diets containing different energy levels in order to investigate the interaction between genotype and dietary energy level on feed intake. In each experiment energy, nutrients ratios were the same for all treatments in each growth period. The results showed that broilers from strains used in these trials can not maintain their energy intake by changing the level of feed intake. In fact, they eat to meet their needs of physical satiety, at least in range of dietary energy content chosen in these experiments.
