In this study the technical Efficiency of farmers were measured and analysed. For this purpose, in the first stage, production functions for wheat and onion growers in Tabriz - Azarshahr plain were estimated, by using Composed Error Method. The results indicated wide variations in technical efficiency among the sample farmers. On the average, their technical efficiency in wheat production was about 63 percent and in onion production it was around 74 percent. The reasults of this study showed, that farmers did not operate efficiently and lost part of their production because of their inefficiency. The amount of this loss was higher in the case of wheat growers compared to onion producers.
