Abstract

In this study to determine the quantitative and qualitative properties of fibres, we took advantage of test results of 109 samples gained from morghoz goats and also from 730 records of fleece weights data, which were available in Sanandaj Animal Husbandry Station, during the years of 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994. Investigated properties are : Fleece weight grease percentage vegetable and forein matter content , yield , percentage of medullated and kempfibres, fiber diameter, fibre lenght in Hauteur and Barbe systems , scale numbers in 100 microns of fibre Ienght, colourimetr heritability of fleece weight and effects of age , sex and brith type on mentioned characters. The results of this study run as follows: The fleece weight mean was 695.5 ± 72.5 grams in total and the effect of age and sex on fleece weight is statistically significant (P<0.0001) . But the birth type effect was not significant statistically. The heritabillity of fleece weight which has been calculated by fulisibs is equal to 10 ± 0.42 percent and by maternal half sibs method is equivalent to 19.9 ±0.602 percent.Mean grease content between the samples is 1.6 percent and the effect of age and sex on grease percentage are significant (P<0.01) , but the color effect has not significance. The average of vegetable and foreign materials is 3.7 ± 0.02 percent and the effects of age. sex and color are not significant. The fibre clean content mean is 85.9 ± 0.02 percent and the effects of age, sex and color. are not significant statisticallv. The average of medullated and kemp fibres are 3.59 and 2.71 percent respectively . The fibre diameter mean is 28.6 ± 0.62 microns and the ei’fect ci sex and age are significant (P<0.05), thoroughly significant (P<0.0001) respectively hut the effect of color is not significant on fibre diameter. The average of fibre lenght is calculated 45.2 ±2.07 mm in Hauteur system and 73.8 ± 3.64 mm in Barbe and the effects of age, sex and color on fibre lenght are not significant statistically. The average of scale number per 100 microns lenght of fibre considered 6.07 numbers. The tristimulus values (X.Y,Z) of fibres colours are estimated by data color in five .shades: White . Cream . light brown , brown and dark brown , and the range of values are calculated.
