More than 690 Iranian and foreign entries of field beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) from Iranian food legumes collection representing 18 geographical regions were evaluated in the field in Karaj, Iran to determine the geographical diversity and genetic variability existed in the collection. The characters studied were: 1) days to first flowering; 2) plant size; 3) disease rating; 4) number Of- pods per plant; 5) number of seeds per pod; 6) days from planting to 1st mature pod; 7) days from
• planting to complete maturity; 8) 100-seed weight; 9) grain yield. The means and ranges of variation for the evaluated characters showed that this collection contains a large amount of variation. Six groups or clusters were obtained through cluster analysis conducted on the variables.
