Abstract

Among F2 populations which obtained by hybridization between three cultivars of sesame, 5 of plants with desirable Agronomic characteristics were selected.the seeds of these plants were grown and compared with their parents . The 3 cultivars used as parents were Jiroft, Shiraz 1 and Shiraz 2 , designated as A,B, and C , - respectively . The results of this experiment could be summarized as follows :
1), The height of parental plants and F3 lines varied from 80.67 to 153.43 cm. The height of F3 lines NO. 17, resulted from the cross AX C, was lowest. 2). Oil percentage among parents and F3 lines varied from 53.23 to 59.46. Oil percentage of F3 line NO. 9 resulted from the cross A X B was maximum. 3). The seed weight - among parents varied from 7.44 to 28.57 g. The maximum weight obtained from F3 lines NO.9 from the cross A XC . 4). Some selection gain was found for number of seeds per-plant in A K C crosses . However, selection gain was also found for oil peroentage in A x C cross
