Abstract

A field study was conducted to evaluate the effect of urea foliar spray on seed protein content, yield and yield components in wheat at Sabzevar Azad University Research Station in 2001. The experiment was established as a Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications. Different times for foliar spray were employed namely: [Ti: Urea used at 30 Kg/ha at the beginning of jointing stage as control, T2: Foliar spray of urea at the jointing stage (30 Kg/ha), T3: Foliar urea spray at the jointing stage (15 Kg/ha) as well as flowering stage (1 5Kg/ha), T4: Foliar urea spray at the jointing stage (10 Kg/ha), at flowering stage (10 Kg/ha), and at heading stage (10 Kg/ha). Results indicated that seed protein content, spike weight, spike length, seed length as well as grain yield were positively affected by urea foliar spray and increased by an increase in number of urea foliar applications. A decrease was observed in 1000 seed weight as well as in seed diameter. Plant height was not shown to be affected by urea foliar spray.
