To study the genetic diversity in landrace populations of wheat from western part of Iran, 467 morpho types were evaluated in 1995 in Agricultural Experiment Station, College of Agriculture, Karaj, Iran. Each morpho type was planted in a five meter row, with 50 cm spacing between the rows and 5 cm between plants within the rows. Karaj 1 and Falat varieties were planted after every 23 rows as checkC).The scored characters were plant height, flag leaf sheath length, extrusion length, spike length, awn length, flag leaf length, flag leaf width, flag leaf area, flag leaf area persistence, peduncle diameter,
peduncle length, peduncle area, peduncle area persistence, days to heading, days to maturity, filling period, single shoot yield, number of kernel per spike,
1000 kernel weight, grain yield, biological yield, straw yield and vegetative growth rate.To evaluate genetic diversity, principle component and cluster analysis were used. In P.C.A. seven components were selected, which showed 77.6% of data variation. Cluster analysis for all morphotypes were carried out
and their data clustered according to three first components. Results of the two analysis strongly confirmed each other. Also clustering of morphotypes was carried out according to characters with higher variation. This analysis
showed similar results, too.
