The effect of kinetin in nutrient solution on transport ad distribution of
Na22 and Cl36 leaf application in different Parts of plants varying in salt tolerance (bean cv.Saxa, sensitive; sunflower cv.Vinimk, moderately tolerant ,and sugar beet cv.Ada,tolerant)was studied under controlled conditions.
The concentration of 0.25. mg/l. kinetin inhibited bean growth, but even 0.50 mg/l. kinetin had no effect on the growth of sunflowers and sugar beets. Retrans— location of Na22 showed distinct genotypical differences. Kinetin treatment was effective on retention of Na22 in treated leaf area of sunflower, but not in bean and sugar beet. The effect of kinetin was considerable on retranslocation of Na22 in bean and sunflower, but not in sugar beet. The Na2 efflux was distinctly decreased in bean treated with kinetin, but it was increased to some degree in sugar beet. Retranslocation of Cl36 showed less genotypical differences. Kinetin treatment increased the retention of Cl36 in treated leaf area of bean and sunflower, and decreased its retranslocation in different parts of these plants. The Cl36 efflux was decreased to some degree in bean treated with kinetin.
