In this research properties and specifications of wool production of four Iranian sheep breeds( Baluchi, Shal, Meghani and Afshari ) in total of 220 Male and female lambs from four mentioned breeds has been studied and compared.
The properties of fleece weight, staple length, fibre diameter and wool yield have been studied and the following results were obtained:
1- Fleece weight: The Meghani breed had the heaviest, Baluchi medium , Shal and Afshari the lowest fleece weight(P001).
2- Staple lenght: Meghani breed had the longest, Afshari and Baluchi had medium without any statistical significant difference) and Shal breed had the shortest staple lenght(P.0,01).
3- Fibre diameter: The finest wool has belonged to Baluchi breed and coarsest wool to Meghani. The Shal and Afshari were ranked between the two mentioned breeds
(P 0,01).
4- Yield: As regard to the wool yield there was no statistical significant difference between the four breeds in this trait.
