Four soil profiles were studied. Field and laboratory studies revealed that tub texture of the soil is varible. Carbonate percentage ranges from 22 .4 to 88.2. These soils are very Poor in organic matter. The free iron, varying from 0.17 to 2.62 g/lOOg of soil, decreases with depth. The soluble cations and anions content is very high in all soils except for the profile 4.Electrical con— ductivity reache’s up to 108.2 mmhos/cm. Chlorine exceeds sulfate ions in the soil extract, The amount of the soluble Na is greater than that of each of other soluble cations in all the soils studied. The clay minerals of the soils studied consist of illite, chioriteç kaolinite and low amounts of vermiculite. In general, most of these soils do not have any value as far as agriculture is concerned.But some of them are relatively suitable and can he put into use by some reclamation.
