Integrated Pest Management is known as a complex system for pest control in which different methods are used regarding biological charachtenstics of the pest and conservation of the environmet for the
porpouse of keeping the pest population under the economical damage level for the farmer. This system (1PM), has been emploied in Iran since
1995 to control the major pest in wheat farms Undoubtedly, for this system
to be succeeded, farmers play an important role and agricultural extension
has a heavy responsibility in motivating them to participate This research
was conducted to study the impact of the extension fators in two westen
provinces in Iran where rainfed wheat farming is the major agncultural
job One hundred and twoenty nine wheat growers who were selected
through stratified random sampling have been studied Findings showed
that farmers’ participation in 1PM was positively related with farmers visit
by the extension agent, visiting farmers with the local leaders and advanced
farmers, knowledge of the farmers about the eurigaster itself, the farmer’s
wheat produce and negatively correlated with farmer’s age and his farming
experiences at 5% level of significance. Using multiple regression showed that the wheat produce, farming experience (with negative impac), visiting
local leaders, and farm visit by the extension agents were the first to forth
factoe respectively, explaning the variance of the farmer’s participation in 1PM Comparing means between the two provinces showed no difference
in farmers’s participation in 1PM
