One of the factors affecting the performance. of tractor - implement system is the working depth of the plows .The working depth is the main factor in determining draft required for a tillage operation. Measurement of depth is done through manual and mechanical methods. A system that is able to display and record instantly the working depth of plows is a necessity and the objective of this research. The system is composed of three parts including the transducer, display , and a recorder . The assembled system was mounted on a three- bottom moldhoard plow and tested in the field. The overall system worked well and the working depth was plotted by the recorder. A good agreement was found between the depth measured manually and recorded by system’s x-t recorder (r=O.982) in the field.
