Presence of different salts, specially sodium salts in some soils produces dispersivity which is always a problem for hydraulic structures such as canals, intake and diversion structures. In canals, the problem normally appears as destruction of concrete lining. In many irrigation projects a lot of money has been spent for repair, because of this problem, and unfortuately no single economical solution has been given. In a research program conducted for investigation on problems arisen in lining of Gotvand Irrigation Network and their causes, the case was thoroughly studied and different solutions proposed. Among these solutions usage of cement (as soil—cement), lime and Aluminium Sulfate as additives to stabilize the soil and control the dispersivity was investigated and some recommendations were made. This paper presents the results of the mentioned research work.
