Abstract

An experiment with 210 single comb white leghorn hens was conducted to evaluate the possibility of using wheat grain screen (WGS) grade 1 and 2 in laying hens diets. The AME of WGS, corn and wheat used in this experiment were determined by a fast method .Then the AMEn = 0.009 + 0.948 AME equation was used to convert the AME to AMEn.Crude protein of WGS was determined. Seven isocaloric and isonitrogenous diets contaning different levels of WGS, grade 1 and 2 were provided.Feed intake, hen-day production ,egg weight and mortality were recorded in three 28 day periods. The performance of hens fed various diets was not significantly different in each period or in the whole experimental period. In the ecoromic term the cost of one kilogram egg produced by Lhe hens those were fed control diet was more expensive as compared to the others.Least cost egg mass was produced by the hens which were fed diet that 30 percent of its AMEn was from WGS grade 1.
