In the present investigation, the effect of different weight of saffron’s corms on flowering time and number of flower were evaluated. To fufil this research , different corm’s weight and a complete randomized design were used. The research was conducted for three succesive years in college of Agriculture of Gonbad in 1991-1993 . The data of each plant were collected separately and then analyzed .It was found that the minimum corm’s weight for flower initiation was 6.5 grams in 1991 and 7.5 grams in 1992 and 1993. The results of each year indicated that the time of flowering is not constant in relation to corm’s weight. The date showed that the corm’s weight had a significant effect on the number of flower per corm. The number of flower increased as the weight of corm was increased up to a specific value. The corms weighted 22.5 grams in 1991. 23.5 grams in 1992 and 25.5 grams in 1993 had the highest number of flower, 2.2, 3.4 and 2.6, respectively . The data showed that the increase in crom’s weight above a specific value causes a reduction in the number of flower per plant .which seems to be a matter of aging.
