in order to select the best pollinizer for late bloom cultivars Azer (A.H.50),Shokoufeh(AH.3),Sahand (L-62) and Ferragnes,This experiment was carried out at Azar-Shahr Horticultural Research Station (Tabriz).In this experiment seven types of pollen,Shokoufeh(AH.3),Azar(A.H.50),Sahand (L-62),Ferragnes (Fer).Neplus Ultra(N.P.U),Non paril (N.P) and Harir (A.H.25)were collected before starting pollinations of the mother plant.
To increase the chance of fruit set Hand pollination was repeted with three day interval,the trees used in experiment were Kept out of reach insect pollination to prevent pollens contamination. Initial and final set was recorded.The data were analysed by using complete randomized design with seven treatment and replicates. The results indicate that the average fruiting percentage for female flowers(pollen receivers)was from zero to maximum of
47%.
Thus the efficiency of the late flowering almond cultivars mainly depend on pollinizers and compatability of the pollinizers with major commercial C.Vs.respectively,provided that pollination is carried out only by insects, particularly by honey bees and it seems that the effect of wind on pollination processing at almond orchards is not significant and even it is nil.
