Determination ;of the contribution of growth parameters to seed yield and estimation of the ideotype characteristics of common bean was performed in 1989 at the Agricultural Research Station, Isfahan University of Technology. For this purpose, five indeterminate type cultivars, namely Daneshkadeh, Dehghan, Sadaf, Marmar and Yass, and one determinate line (No. 11805) were evaluated. Coefficients of Correlations between traits and the linear stepwise regression of plant seed yield on the other traits for all genotypes under,study and for indeterminate types were calculated, seperately. Based on the results, the breeding progams to increase yield of indeterminate types should consider number of stems, number of pods per node of secondary stems, number of seeds per pod of secondary stems, number of nodes per main stem and hundred seeds weight. Increase in number of nodes per stem to provide for higher number of pods, and consequently higher number of seeds per plant is desirable in order to increase the seed yield of the line 11805.
