During 2000-2002 an investigation was carried out to collect and identify tortoize mites of superfamily Uropodoidea in Tehran region. Soil samples were taken from various orchards as well as parks in the region. Mites were extracted using Berlese-Tullgreen funnel apparatus. Microscopic slides of the mites were prepared after their being cleansed. During the study ten species from four genera and three families of Uropodoidea were collected and identified. Mite species listed according to their families are: Nenteria sp., Nenteria breviunguiculata, Nenteria stylifera, Trichouropoda sp. and Trichouropoda elegans from family Trematuridae; Uroobovella fimicola, U. marginata, U. obovata and U. pulchella from family Urodinychidae, and Uropoda orbicularis from family Uropodidae.
